As the year draws to a close I wanted to bring your attention to one of my favourite places in London which is very often overlooked; The O2.
If you’re not there for a concert it may not seem like somewhere you would go but there’s a whole lot more to the area than meets the eye. Originally opened as the Millennium Dome in 2000 it housed the Millennium Experience for a year before being rebranded and reopened to the public as The O2 Entertainment Avenue and Arena in 2007. It has continued to attract the biggest and best names in music, comedy and sport. Here’s five reasons why you should consider visiting the O2 in 2015:
1) It’s super easy to get to
You can get there on the tube, by bus, using the Thames Clipper or one of my favourite cheap things to do in the area The Emirates Airline which will give you some of the most spectacular views of the dome on the way!
2) It has an epic cinema (which just happens to be my local)
Honestly, part of the reason I chose to live in the East end of London was so that I could have this branch of Cineworld as my local. As well as showing all the latest movies they also have a huge Sky Superscreen as well as D-Box which while a novelty is really good fun I’m there at least twice a month.
3) It holds some of the best gigs
Seeing Taylor Swift live at The O2 was one of my highlights of 2014 and I’m super sad that her London tour date next year isn’t being held here. However there’s still time for you to grab The Script tickets for their London dates in March as well as a ton of other awesome artists!
4) It has some amazing places to eat
5) You can climb it! (No really)
I haven’t done it yet but Up at the O2 looks like one of the most fun things EVER! Once up at the top you get amazing 360° views of London including the Olympic Park, the Thames Barrier, Canary Wharf and The Shard – perhaps not the best idea for those with a fear of heights though!
So have I convinced you? Will you be visiting The O2 in 2015? If so I might see you there!
