Now I’m sure this will sound ridiculously cheesy but the best thing to come out of blogging for me over the last few years since moving to London is this great little community I’ve found. Sure there are a few stuck up bloggers who think they are better than you are and yeah there can be quite a bit of competition but to be honest if you’re in it for the fun of it then you can find some of the best people ever in the blogging community. So when some of my faves bullied the ever patient Charlotte of BestLDN Walks into a blogger paaaaargghty last Friday night I didn’t have the willpower to say no.
The last time I went on a walking tour with these girlies led to one of the best nights of my life with so much laughter my cheeks and sides hurt so I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately the hot temperatures of this stupid heatwave have been wreaking havoc with my IBD and I started to feel a little worse for wear. If there’s one thing I hate though it’s cancelling plans because my damn body tells me to so I persevered even though I probably shouldn’t have. Actually scratch that, I shouldn’t have been there at all. I should have been at home in bed.
That said I made the decision not to drink and just go with the flow anyway and I’m glad I did as it was a fun and informative evening. My favourite thing about the tour is the area of London that it covers. Most of the walking tours that I’ve seen advertised tend to stick very much in and around central London so it was nice to hear more about the east side of the city in this one. I’m not going to give away all of Charlotte’s secrets though as obviously this would totally spoil the tour should you decide to go on it yourself but my favourite bits were seeing one of the oldest pubs in London, quoting from Mean Girls (a lot), playing narr or yarr in which we decided what pirate facts were true and which were falsehoods and being told by a local cabbie which celebs live in the area.
The tour lasts for 2 hours with a couple of pub stops for a quick pint and while I can’t guarantee you’ll have as awesome a time as we did I know you are still in for a treat. Also, if you start quoting Mean Girls it’s a surefire way of making Charlotte like you and at least she’ll know that having us there was definitely a good decison when it comes to publicity. If pirates ain’t your thing (and seriously if not you have a problem) there are loads of other tours on offer from BestLDN with prices starting from just a fiver. What are you waiting for?
