Those guys at Joes Bloggers have done it again and came up with the ultimate girlie night out (even more epic that their Monopoly night) and the other week invited myself and a bunch of other equally lovely bloggers for a cinema night with a difference – it was taking place on a barge that would be gently floating down the canal while we watched the most obvious choice of movie for a bunch of bloggers: Mean Girls.
I’ve watched movies in a few cool places including Somerset House and on a rooftop in East London but I think it’s safe to say that #CurrysMovieNight on the Floating Cinema is the most unique cinema experience I’ve had to date! We embarked just after 8pm at Kings Cross where we were greeted by the Floating Cinema team with glasses of prosecco that miraculously never became empty over the course of the evening, unlimited popcorn and sweets. Everything you could need for a girlie movie night.
It wasn’t Wednesday but I still changed into my woolly pink slipper socks before the movie started and the quoteathon began! It was so much fun watching this with a bunch of babes that I was so engrossed in the movie I pretty much forgot we were on a boat except for when we would go through a lock.
Floating Cinema events vary in size from intimate floating tours like ours 12, on-board screenings, workshops and talks for up to 20 people, to large-scale outdoor screenings for audiences of 500+. They’re currently running a sci-fi season of movies at Kings Cross which are completely free. Check out the schedule here.
