I completely forgot about The Pheasant until I was discussing the Serenity Forever convention with a guy at the Jack Ryan premiere earlier this week. Quite how I fogot to blog about this place I’m not sure as it really is ace! Situated in West End Lane, a wee street parallel to the main Bath Road at Heathrow, it’s a quiet little escape from the hustle and bustle of the airport and within walking distance of a lot of the major airport hotels. They have a huge, varied menu at really great prices and best of all the portions are massive!
We popped in on the Sunday on the convention for a late lunch after our included all you can eat breakfast at the hotel and I didn’t need to eat again for the rest of the day! As it was a Sunday I decided to go for the Sunday lunch which the website tells me would cost £12.99. The plate was full to the brim with half a roast chicken, roast parsnips, potatoes, yourkshire pud and seasonal veg as well as coming with a huge jug of gravy on the side. You can never have too much gravy!
I’m not a fan of chicken on the bone usually but this was succulent and delicious and due to the size I still had a good amount of meat even avoiding the darker parts. The picture doesn’t really do this meal justice as it was so good. I didn’t finish it all though as I was determined to leave some room for one of their famous puddings!
Their hot chocolate fondant with vanilla ice cream which I split with a friend. And oh my gosh it was heaven on a plate for a chocoholic like me! I even liked the strawberries which were lovely and sweet which I’m normally quite fussy about. Sharing was definitely a good plan though as we were both so stuffed from our mains. This isn’t the first meal I’ve had at The Pheasant nor will it be the last if I am ever in the vicinity of Heathrow again as everything I’ve had there has always been immensely good so I recommend it 100%.
