After a fruitless hour hovering outside the Total Movie offices last week in the hopes of meeting Alexis Denisof (only to discover that he was in fact in Oxford that afternoon and wouldn’t be visiting Total Movie until the following day) I popped into You Me Sushi in Marylebone as a bit of a treat.
My experience with sushi thus far extended as far as Yo! Sushi and those little takeaway selection boxes you get in Boots and supermarkets. I’ve always felt slightly intimidated by those intimate little sushi bars and their extensive menus not being confident in knowing what I should order but the menu at You Me Sushi with its colourful pictures showing you exactly what to expect.
Steering clear of my Yo! Sushi favourite of chicken katsu curry I settled on salmon & avocado maki rolls, flying fish roe nigiri and the prawn & asparagus kushiyaki. Prices are on par with Yo! Sushi with the added benefit that as I was eating before 6pm there was a whopping 20% off!
My sushi was made for me there and then (they also have a few sushi boxes ready for you to grab and go in the chiller cabinet should you be pressed for time) and as such it arrived at different times but it was all equally as nice. It was all so fresh and delicious which you obviously don’t get from pre-made sushi. I even ate all of the salad as well it was so good.
The kushiyaki was my personal favourite with big juicy prawns in a complimentary teriyaki sauce and skewered together with asparagus which has got to be my number one vegetable of choice.
You Me Sushi have four locations across London each open 11am til late and they also offer free delivery* on orders over £12.
* Unfortunately, or not depending how you look at it, they don’t delivery as far East as I’m currently living so be sure to check their delivery area online to avoid disappointment
