I had planned to have a special Welsh edition of Holy Cupcakes for you this week but unfortunately I never got round to finding a cupcake shops during my trip. Instead I headed to Fortnum & Mason after work yesterday to grab a cupcake only to be disappointed when they didn’t have any. Lots of macaroons and chocolates but no cupcakes. Boo! Instead I headed to Selfridges and they did not disappoint, the food hall there has so much yummy stuff including delicious cupcakes made by Celebration Cakes.
They had lots of delicious flavours to choose from as well as many other naughty delights and they specialise in made to order birthday cakes if you’re looking for something for a special occasion. As soon as I spotted the salted caramel kind I knew that was what I wanted yet right after placing my order I noticed there was a single cookie dough cupcake staring at me! Not wanting to be one of those annoying people I stuck with my original choice.
And what was my verdict you ask?
Oh my god this is one of, if not the, best cupcakes I have had since I started this little segment. It made it home in remarkably good shape thanks to the round container they put it in before boxing it up. The frosting was luscious with tiny pieces of salted caramel strewn on top and a deliciously moist sponge base making it the perfect combination. It’s sweet but not sickly so and I’m salivating just remembering how good it was. Not only that but it was a bargainous £1.99 – definitely good value for London.
