Holy Cupcakes Batman: The Cupcake Bakehouse

After last weeks disappointment I hoped that my original choice of location, The Cupcake Bakehouse in Covent Garden, would prove to be the better choice.

The Bakehouse is a tiny little store bursting to the brim with delicious cakie goodness. They have a great range of cupcakes including a small free-from selection and mini-cupcakes for those (like me) who struggle to make up their minds on which kind to try.

Feeling naughty I simply HAD to try their Oreo cupcake but also decided to try both vanilla and chocolate as they were available in the mini size – it would have been rude not too!

When I got home I decided to start with the smaller before tucking in to the main attraction and they were relatively good but it only took about two bites to finish each one. I’m not sure if it was because of the weather but the frosting seemed to be a bit too soft almost like it was melting. They are good value at £1.50 each especially if you can’t make up your mind!

The main cupcake that I chose as I said was one of their special flavours, a vanilla cupcake with crushed Oreo icing and half an Oreo on top.

A good ratio of frosting to sponge this cupcake was let down by the consistency of the icing which had made the Oreo soft rather than crunchy which was slightly disappointing.

I’ll maybe try The Cupcake Bakehouse again on a less warm day to see if that makes any difference.
